40-ALK 1992-1993

I was in a punk rock band with my friend Ron Defilippo in the early 90's. This was my first band. In the 90's there was a scatter by labels for new bands so I had sent a recording of us out to different labels. Ron was inspired by hair metal bands. I was into the Sex Pistols, Ramones, Clash, Blitz, Anti Nowhere League and the Circle Jerks.

We had no steady bassist. It was Ron on drums and I played guitar and sang. So after doing covers, I was more into writing songs. The first was "Strung Out". About falling in love with someone who underestimated me. Then "Stop", A drinking song. I wrote one called "Forevermore" which I would consider an embarrassment now. I had a few girlfriends and wrote songs for them. I later changed it to "Only You". Many others followed.

In early 1993 we started recording these songs on a tape recorder and giving some away. Gas A Tanka....an independent label was interested in having us but it didn't happen.

1993, Ron got caught up in this Apostolic religion cult and 40-ALK came to an end. This was a huge act of betrayal by Ron. Especially knowing what the band meant to me and others. This guy named Walter Shrum took Ron and his brother and brainwashed them. He turned Ron against me for the most part. Our chance to do something meaningful was blown. This Apostolic religion has ruined the lives of many people.

2021, A chance to reunite was given to us but Ron is so damaged by this religion that he won't do it. He is now dressing like a senior citizen at age 50. The church told him to do this. So I am going at this alone. I need a drummer and bassist for this project to happen. Two songs have been put on YouTube. Stop and Strung Out.
