40-ALK 1992-1993

I was in a punk rock band with my friend Ron Defilippo in the early 90's. This was my first band. In the 90's there was a scatter by labels for new bands so I had sent a recording of us out to different labels. Ron was inspired by hair metal bands. I was into the Sex Pistols, Ramones, Clash, Blitz, Anti Nowhere League and the Circle Jerks.  We had no steady bassist. It was Ron on drums and I played guitar and sang. So after doing covers, I was more into writing songs. The first was "Strung Out". About falling in love with someone who underestimated me. Then "Stop", A drinking song. I wrote one called "Forevermore" which I would consider an embarrassment now. I had a few girlfriends and wrote songs for them. I later changed it to "Only You". Many others followed. In early 1993 we started recording these songs on a tape recorder and giving some away. Gas A Tanka....an independent label was interested in having us but it didn't happen.

1960's Music

Where to begin. Even though there were rock bands prior to 1964, the explosion happened after the Beatles played the Ed Sullivan show. Every boy and girl wanted a guitar and or drum set. This was the beginning of the Garage era..... One can make a life's work out of chronicling all of them. The girls outnumbered the guys. It's because of them, we had the Runaways, Go Go's, Devotchkas, Shohen Knife and many more.  You have the Heartbeats, Pleasure Seekers, Debutantes, Beas, She's, Butterflies (Denmark), Goldie and the Gingerbreads, plus so much more.  The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame needs to recognize these ladies somehow.
